I believe it is always important to give back to my community. Charity quilting is one way I have given back and I am blessed to be able to work with the Girl Scouts of America on a very special project.
We are making patriotic quilts to give to veterans at the Georgia War Veterans Retirement Home in Augusta, Georgia. Our goal is for each and every resident to have his or her very own patriotic quilt.
The girls range in age from 6 to 15 and are learning: how to sew, how to make a quilt, budgeting, team work, planning, fund raising, patriotism, community service and having fun doing it.
This project was started by my friend Angie to honor the memory of her veteran husband, Brice.
If you would like to make a quilt, donate fabric or batting, or make a donation to help defray the cost of making these quilts for this wonderful project, please contact me!
Please thank our Veterans for our freedom!!
Dozens of quilts that are ready to be delivered!
Girls from the Girl Scouts troop presenting a quilt to a veteran.
The girls were able to personalize squares for the quilts adding a special touch the veterans really appreciated.
The veterans were very happy with the results of our efforts.
