For several years I have been working with the Girl Scouts and other organizations to make brightly colored pillow cases to donate to the Pediatric Oncology Ward at the Medical College of Georgia. The pillow cases brighten up the days and long nights for children with cancer and other life threatening disorders.
This project benefits our community in so many ways. We are teaching girls teamwork, sewing skills, community service, compassion and so much more.
I have the girls make two pillow cases. One to donate and a matching one to take home. I tell the girls when they lay their head down on their special pillow case to remember that you made a little child smile one day.
If you would like to donate to this project, please email me at chatz4259@aol.com. We need bright, cheerful fabrics, thread, sewing machines, scissors, rulers, and large zip lock bags to deliver the pillowcases in once they have been washed and pressed.
Thank you for supporting this wonderful project!
